A Fall Day at Sagawau Nature Preserve

As the temperature dipped close to freezing this morning we headed out to Sagawau Nature Preserve for a photo shoot. This forest preserve has a hidden gem, the only ancient coral reef canyon in Cook County, which is in the city of Lemont, just outside of Chicago, Il.
With the crisp fall air, the trees were shimmering with yellow, gold and red colors of the fall. It was made more beautiful with the reflections on the pond at the south end of the canyon.

  2. Beautiful autumn shots! Really surprised that your leaves have tuned color because most of our leaves are still green.
"the reflections on the pond"!! The last photo makes me want to go to Nikko this autumn where the reflections on the lake are lovely too!! Thank you!

  3. Your season is so ahead of mine. As sapphire wrote, most of the foliage is green here. The yellow leaves are aglow in the sunshine... so beautiful, and yes, reflections make the real landscape look more enchanting. Have happy autumn, Noriko-san.

I am afraid that early fall means long and cold winter. But for now I am enjoying the many colors of the fall.. Thank you for visiting...

  6. Noriko,
I really cannot wait for autumn leave season! Trees started to turn autumn colors but not so much. Your world is stunning!! Beautiful photos! Especially I love the second one. Whenever I see the reflections on the water, I wonder whether another world exists under water. Have a great week!
